Question: Pro Tools 8 vs. Vista Home Premium: HELP!?
Hello!
I'm looking to get myself a new computer and Pro Tools 8 (M-Powered).
What's really going on with Pro Tools and Windows Vista Home Premium? Are they seriously NOT compatible with each other? I find it hard to believe that Pro Tools works with Vista Business and Ultimate but not Home Premium (which is what all most all new PCs are sold with)... the DigiDesign website doesn't explain much about this matter and most people I have talked to are as confused as I am.
Has anyone found a solution to this Vista thing? Is there some kind of software to purchase that makes Pro Tools work on Vista Home Premium? If not, does anyone have any computers to suggest that ARE compatible with Pro Tools 8? I considered getting a Mac, but they're out of my price range (I'm looking at a $750 budget).
I feel like I'm missing something...

you should be very grateful, as i actually created a yahoo ID so i could answer your very question!!
Listen up matee... i dont mean this cheeky, but if you read carefully on the digidesign website, you will see that, although it does not actually specify whether Pro Tools 8 (M-Powered) works with Windows Vista Home Premium, it DOES say there are "No known Issues"
Basically digidesign have just not TESTED Pro Tools 8 on Home Premium yet, but it still works, I'm Currently running Pro Tools 8 (LE) on an Acer Aspire Laptop, with Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
and i have yet to come across a problem! You don't need any other programs or anything to make it work!! just a legitimate copy of Pro Tools 8
So seriously, don't worry about it, just chill man!! IT WORKS lol ok??
I can see overall where you are actually coming from though..
For boasting themselves as "The Industry Leader in Digital Audio and Live Sound" they're attempts to cater for ALL Operating Systems is appalling! As home basic and home premium are the most common operating systems on a newly bought computer or laptop, they SHOULD have been tested by digidesign, its quite pathetic..
So for an answer to your question! it works!!
and for buying your computer i recommend Acer 
works great with Pro Tools!!

Question: What is better pc or mac?
Hi I am looking to get a new computer for general home use, I have a laptop with vista that i use for business related work, I was wondering what is the better computer to get a mac or a pc.
Ive seen the osx lepoard software and it seems to work really well as well as having some impressive features, it looks better than vista.
What type should i get a pc or a mac, give some details about each one, dont give me crap about mac sucks, if you reakon that give some details about it and why it sucks.
Answer: It depends on how comfortable you are with the operating systems. Leopard is an amazing OS and vista is pretty snazzy as well. I would get a mac because they are simpler to use and maintain and they are less likely to become infected with viruses and spyware.
