Question: How Do I Sell My Profitable Business?

About a year and half ago I had a kidney transplant and since then I have been needing to sell my business.

My business is a home based distribution company that sells to several fortune companies. I have been in business appox. 6 yrs and have been profitable from the get go in the 6 figures.

The problem is that people I have spoken to say that because the business is relationship based it will be hard to sell. I don't get it becasue all service business's are relationship based and when a owner sells it is usually mandatory or standard to sign a non-compete for a couple of years and to offer consulting for a period of time.

It is a one man operation and perfect for someone who wants to work from home and make approx 6 figures annually. Business has books that are kept by a licensed CPA and tax returns to prove success.

Any ideas? Please don't respond unless you really know what you are talking about. I really need out for medical reasons.

Answer: I don't know where you are, but in a major city there will be people called "business brokers" who sell this type of business. Look at bizbuysell.com listings for your area and get the brokers' names, then look them up outside. I haven't actually bought through them, but I would avoid brokers who are also realtors. Most of them sell the business incidentally, are really interested in real esate.

It will be difficult, but not impossible to sell based on what you've said. Because its relationship based and relatively small, your multiple to earnings will be smaller than for a company that operates with or without the owner there; also, your buyer will likely have financing difficulty, so be very careful with them. Don't carry the note for them unless you're a credit expert! These things may hurt your selling price and make it take longer to sell, but it shouldn't mean you can't sell at all. Good luck!

Question: what are all Home Based Business oppurtunity?

i m a house wife( India-Chennai). i dont believe in online business. can any one suggest me with good Home Based Business idea's?

Answer: Many don't believe in home based businesses for several reasons. Sometimes the hype on the site is just TOO incredible for anyone in their right mind to believe possible... and in most cases they are right - the claims are unrealistic.

Another reason is they have been burned once, twice or maybe more and have lost faith in the 'real' system.

The real problem I see for you in particular is two fold. You already don't believe and your location. I don't know if anyone who spammed you their 'deal' actually knows if their 'deal' is available in your area or not... it's just an invitation for them to spam and hope to recruit SOMEBODY/ANYBODY who reads this question.

I have seen a lot of questionable, supposed, Home Businesses being generated in India lately and my personal feeling is that your people are being 'scammed' left and right. Some of the opps I have seen are illegal here in the states and other countries. I don't know about the legalities in India.

What I would offer to you is this:
Do NOT PAY anyone to have a JOB, especially any of these 'typing/Work at Home' ads you may see.

If you do not understand what network marketing is and want some generic information about the over all concept, send me an email through my profile with an email address and I will send you a document explaining what network marketing businesses are and how they work. This document has nothing to do with anything I do and will not make any recommendations... it is just an easy to understand informational document.

Question: How to finance a Home Based Business?

I am moving and my fiancee is the only one working right now and he's not making that much money. I have one child and pregnant and my fiancee has two others. I have decided to Work at Home making candles. The profits are amazing and supplies do not cost that much. I looked for small business grants, all dead ends. I already have a student loan so I'm afraid of going and getting a loan to start my business because I don't know how our financial situation is going to be for the next few months. I could wait, but making extra money right now would really help. Do I have any other options?

Answer: keep it small, is my advice.
borrowing money usually not going to work thats why no one will lend it to you.ask a family member to help you for a few months maybe even sharing in the business until it sees a profit.
