Home Business Bakery

Question: Is it possible to set up a small bakery business from home in the UK (Staffordshire) during a recession?
I am researching the idea and have found that many books refer to selling cupcakes/traybakes to local delis. Truth of the matter is where we live there isn't any decent bakeries, delis etc and it doesn't really bother locals.
Could I bake cakes (e.g. cupcakes) and sell via a website and deliver nationwide?
Answer: Look on a website called Enterprise Nation, great advice for those in the UK wishing to set up from home. Don't be put off because there are no decent delis or whatever in your area, there are plenty of other ways to get your goods to the public, like you say, delivery is an option, but there may be farmers markets or local fetes where you can showcase your goods and hand out cards. Once the locals taste a truly perfect cake they'll soon realise what they've been missing!
