Home Business Products

Question: How can I start a business with little money, and no products in my home cz I stay in a rest home.?
I have very, very little money, maybe couple of hundred dollars. I really need to start anything cz I am running out of money.
Answer: Hi Dink, I have a couple of suggestions for you. Both cost money, but neither cost a lot and I am currently a member of them both and trust that they aren't scams. (You may wish to do an internet search on both of them) The first one is called salehoo. You can join here

Salehoo is an online directory of wholesale companies. Basically. you pay a once off, lifetime membership fee and in return you have access to a large database of wholesale companies and many other resources. You then can make small purchases from these companies (you can even dropship) and resell the purchases at retail prices either on your own website, local newspaper or Ebay. I havent been a member for long but it looks great so far. I am currently using my time learning more about import/export etc (they have heaps of tutorials, while I save up for my first proper order.
The next option I would recommend is called planet sms. It is run by John Thornhill, an internet powerseller. Basically, you pay a once off membership fee and you are then given all the tools to run an automated internet business selling ebooks on ebay. This works even if you have no prior knowledge.

The only thing that you need to purchase to make it fully automated, is a website, but it takes you through step by step and you can choose any company you like, therefore cutting costs substantially. It is a really honest system.
For those who think that these may be scams, they both also offer 56day money back guarantees. I also checked them out on Better Business Bureau, before signing up to them as I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be scammed...again. Salehoo had a couple of complaints, but all were resolved and they have since joined the BBB. Always remember the option is yours whether to look into these opportunities. These are two that I have found to be cheap and well worth every penny. Best of luck to you.

Home Business Direct Sales

Question: Could going to a concert be a tax write-off?
I live in Cleveland, and I went to a concert in Pittsburgh last weekend. There, I talked up my new Home Business and products [it's an in-home direct sales company that operates like Pampered Chef or Mary Kay] and passed out a bunch of cards to prospective clients. My friend told me that I might be able to write off the cost and travel relating to the concert because I was promoting my business- is that true?
I do plan to meet with an accountant some time soon, but in the meantime I'm just trying to keep complete records...
If it changes anything, I also went to Ikea there and bought a bunch of stuff for my home, and a whopping $4 of that was related to my business. I wasn't planning to declare such a small amount, but if I'm declaring part of the trip I should declare this too right? And even if I can't declare the concert, can I still write off all those miles because I bought business supplies there, even such a small amount?
Answer: Entertainment expenses, assuming they are for legit business purposes (and you can prove that) can be written off at 50% of what you paid for them.
Hence, if you have $100 in income and you spent $25 for this concert, you can write-off $12.50 of the $100 - meaning you only pay income tax on $87.50.
