Home Based Business Catering

Question: How do I price for a cleaning business I want to start up?
I want to start a cleaning business that caters to apartment complexes (when tenants move out), cleaning empty homes for real estate agents, and construction homes. How would I price for cleaning these? How much would I charge for 1, 2, or 3 bedroom apartments or homes? How much to charge per square foot for post construction homes? Would I charge a base price and then charge extra for cleaning stoves and fridges and how much extra (this is very time consuming). I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has their own cleaning business...thanks in advance!
Answer: I clean small offices and the problem with your questions is prices vary by where you are located. Cleaning move outs in New York would be one charge, cleaning the same size apartment in Des Moines Iowa would be a lot less.
Do charge by the sq ft and have a price sheet for the 'extras'. Call around to cleaning companies and see what they charge. Call some property managing companies and ask what they pay and what they get for it.
Get a contract, bid or estimate form and more. I have the resources and tips for you on my Squidoo lens and blog which are all about starting a cleaning business. The links are in My Profile.
You can do it...just do your investigating first and have your 'ducks in a row', as they say. A cleaning business is a great business to start...low start-up, fast to start earning and pretty stable.
